Concept Images Sent To Illustrator
A big Thank you!! to Michael Lindsey, my illustrator. He took my overly-simplistic, often two-dimensional stick figure drawings and created works of art. There was quite a lot of embellishments which he added, most of which I left, as they truly did make the world of Houkura come to life.

You will see an evolution of the concepts drawings that I sent to him, as I actually realised that I could draw, but was just being out-right lazy. Each time I look back at what I sent and what he produced, truly amazes me, and I want to highlight his amazing talent with this tributary page to Michael.

PS: I am considering converting the books to graphic novels if I can convince him and obtain the financial backing.
Book 1
The red crosses show the progress of the 3 x Australians on Houkura for book 1.
I initially was going to get my sister Rochelle to do the illustrations because she had some architectural experience but she wasn't available for the entire book. In the end, I'm glad Michael did the illustrations as he added the extra disrepair that I forgot to include in my own sketches.
This image was made solely for the website based on a royalty-free image I found on the web. I wish I had added it to the book - for clarity.

Book 2
Thank goodness I had the original map electronically so that I could shrink it and print it out and then add on the rest of the map features.
This was slightly challenging for me: converting the original to a slightly aerial view just to capture the different entries that the 3 Aussies took to get to Marjory House.
After doing the sketch, I remember modelling as Arcken pinning Tarheen (Tasha) to the wall, which was quite funny since Tasha is so much taller than me.
