The business name "Houkura" was created to publish Sabrina's books and any merchandise associated with the book.
It will also be used to publish a cook book written by Sabrina's mum - Sylvia.
Sabrina was born in Dandenong, (VIC, Australia) grew up in Darwin, (NT, Australia) and currently resides in Brisbane, (QLD, Australia). Qualified with a Bachelor of Science Degree and an Honours Degree in Science, she changed careers and became an Australian Customs Officer for nine years in Darwin – the last seven of which were spent as an intelligence analyst. Sabrina then decided to leave government and join private industry to work as a consultant and the principal trainer with Visual Analysis in Canberra for just over 10 years. Sabrina relocated to QLD at the end of 2014 to set up her own consultancy business, called
Sylvia was born in Madras (now Chennai, India) and migrated with her family to Australia in 1969.
In 1996, Sylvia co-owned a hotel in Bridlington, North East Yorkshire (UK) for eight years and ran Anglo-Indian Cookery classes. During this time she was recognised as a Master Crafstman by the Guild of Master Craftsman for two years before opening her own Anglo-Indian restaurant in Bridlington. Sylvia returned to Australia in 2005, and is now living in Brisbane, (QLD, Australia).
